E! NEWS: Drama As Olamide Pulls A ‘Kanye’ At The Headies 2015

Popular indigenous rapper, Olamide was the cynosure of all eyes after he stood up for his artiste, Lil Kesh at the just concluded 2015 edition of the annual Headies awards.

In what looked like a scene from a Hollywood movie, Olamide and his crew stormed the Headies stage after YBNL act, Adekunle Gold was announced winner of the ‘Best Alternative Song of the Year’ award.

Prior to that announcement, happenings at the event was business as usual before Mavin Records artiste, Reekado Banks clinched the most coveted ‘Next Rated artiste of the Year’ award which created a tense scene amongst guests and other onlookers present. You will recall that the nominees of this category were Korede Bello, Kiss Daniel, Reekado Banks, Lil Kesh and Cynthia Morgan with lots of pundits and other music buffs touting Lil Kesh as the eventual winner.

Guests and viewers could tell that Reekado Banks was pleasantly surprised to have been announced winner of this category following his acceptance speech and the eventual hug he gave to Lil Kesh after he climbed the stage to celebrate with him. In Reekado Banks’ words “I know say some people go dey vex right now, but you can rant… it’s allowed.” Lil Kesh created a scene afterwards by walking out of the event venue but other members of the YBNL crew swiftly stopped him from doing so.

In a thrilling twist, when Adekunle Gold came on stage with the whole YBNL crew to pick his award, it was inevitable that the label CEO, Olamide would sieze the opportunity to air his grievances.

While Adekunle Gold gave his acceptance speech, thanking God, and dedicated his award to his YBNL label and Lil Kesh, Olamide took the microphone off him, flipped the script, and went off in a rant saying “Adekunle Gold, let’s be honest, this award belongs to Lil Kesh, because Lil Kesh is our next rated artiste… f@#k that sh#t!.” He continued, “…every f@#king single was a hit, back to back, from “Lyrically”, to “Shoki”, to E Fe Jo Ku…” before throwing his drink on stage and storming off with his crew.

Events took another turn after Don Jazzy was ushered on stage to pick his ‘Special Recognition’ award for his contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s music industry. The Mavin boss stepped out to receive his award from COSON president, Chief Tony Okoroji, who congratulated and commended the gifted producer for his input into the industry. Before exiting the stage, Don Jazzy dropped a bombshell hinting at a lengthy beef between the two music superpowers saying “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it. God bless you”.
