E-NEWS: Skiibii’s Reported Demise; A Publicity Stunt Gone Too Far?
Few minutes after his reported death, a ‘worrying’ lifeless photo of him in the sitting room surfaced online. Its saddening that one who saw him earlier yesterday hale and hearty with smiles all over his face would instantly be thrown into worry.
Immediately, calls were placed to his lines and that of his representative but they were all switched off.
Since his demise was announced and corroborated by 5Star Music’s artist manager, Soso Soberekon’s instagram post (which he has since deleted), several Nigerian celebrities took to social media to send their condolences to family and close relatives of the rapper.
Tributes continued to pour in for Skiibii not until few hours ago when label mate, Kcee who is currently out of the country announced via his instagram page that Skiibii is alive after he was rushed to a hospital where he was revived. He added that an official statement would be released to announce the label’s stand on the matter in due course.
He posted ‘Been on transit from Oslo, Norway to Sweden this is to confirm Skiibii is not dead he is responding to treatment. Official statement dropping soon.’
Also, another label mate, Harrysong who was pictured alongside Skiibii while promoting their newly released materials on radio yesterday posted a similar statement on his instagram page.
However, inquiries made to affirm the truth about his death or reported collapse proves nothing of such happened afterall.
A recent visit paid by our reporter to the newly rented Omole apartment of the label not only revealed normal activities to be going well, it also showed “nothing like an accident” happened back there. It was also reported Skiibii left the apartment in company of Harrysong earlier today hours before the arrival of the reporter.
The timing of the announcement of the reported death not only proved it is an orchestrated plan to promote Skiibii’s latest single christened ‘Sampu’ which he dropped few days ago, it also brings to mind the generation of the required buzz to ensure his music trends to reach a large section of the highly dominated music industry.
Since news surfaced that he has been revived, some followers of the rapper and other celebrities have aired their displeasure on the impact of a ‘publicity stunt’ gone too far.
